USS Midway Museum

The USS Midway Museum is a real naval aircraft carrier that served in the United States Navy for 47 years. Large and very impressive, it has real jets and real airplanes up on the flight deck, that travelers can actually walk into and even sit in the cockpits of some planes. They also offer an audio tour free with admission, that takes you through the kitchens and the laundry rooms and all around the ship. You hear from real people who worked on board, the stories are very heartwarming and very interesting. The Midway is so huge, but when you hear about living aboard for months at a time, you realize how small it must have been. It does take at least 3 hours to get through seeing all the exhibits, so plan on at least half a day in order to see it all. Fabulous docents stop and visit and tell about stories about serving aboard.

National Comedy Theatre

The National Comedy Theatre is San Diego’s nationally acclaimed improv comedy show. Now in its 12th season, the National Comedy Theatre is the longest running show in San Diego. Similar in style to “Whose Line is it Anyway?” the cast of the National Comedy Theatre presents a high energy show based completely on audience suggestions. Every show is different and the show is appropriate for all audiences.

Balboa Park

The world-renowned San Diego Zoo is only one part of this magnificent 1,200-acre city park that was built for the 1915-1916 Panama-California Expo. California’s Hispanic roots were celebrated as the city erected breathtakingly ornate Spanish-style buildings. The California Building was modeled after a Spanish colonial church and is topped off with a polychrome tile dome. Balboa Park is home to the zoo, 14 museums, a pipe organ pavilion, botanical gardens, a Tony award winning theater, an antique carousel and a miniature-scale train. Of particular interest is Balboa Park’s Christmas on the Prado that is held the first weekend of December each year.

SeaWorld

SeaWorld takes you on a one-of-a-kind journey to the wonders that exist beyond the ocean’s door. A place where up-close encounters connect you to the energy, excitement and mystery of the sea and sea life. A world of fascinating days, captivating nights and exhilarating adventure. Plus, Sesame Street presents Lights, Camera, Imagination!, a new 4-D movie and the all-new Sesame Street Bay of Play, an all-new play area with three family-friendly rides.
